The Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a three-phase program that serves both inpatients and outpatients.
Phase I is the bedside component of the program and introduces patients to the concept of cardiac health promotion and prevention.
Phase II is conducted immediately after a patient is discharged and involves medically-supervised activities in a clinical setting, as well as ongoing risk modification.
Phase III is a long-term exercise program conducted in Cardiac Rehab at CMHVI, 60 High Street, on the 2nd floor.
The CMHVI Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The AACVRP is a national association dedicated to improving clinical practice, promoting scientific inquiry, and advancing education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals and the patients they serve. The AACVRP rigorously reviews cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation programs to determine if they meet essential requirements for standards of care.
