Central Maine Cardiovascular Surgery

Central Maine Cardiovascular Surgery offers consultation and surgical services for treatment of coronary artery disease, valvular disorders, lung nodules and lung cancer, esophageal disorders malignant and benign, gastroesophageal reflux, mediastinal masses, hyperhidrosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, claudication, carotid stenosis, venous ulcer, peripheral vascular disease, varicose veins.

Group practice

Central Maine Cardiovascular Surgery (CMCS) is a group practice, so after regular office hours and on weekends and care providers share coverage on an alternating basis,. A care provider is available for patients at all times, better assuring continuity of care for everyone.

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment Monday through Friday, and we request that you call in advance to schedule so that we can reserve time for you. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please call and let us know as soon as possible. A 24-hour notice is appreciated.

We will make every effort to honor your appointment time, however emergency situations occasionally arise and create delays. We appreciate your patience on these occasions.

Telephone Advice or Questions

If you have a non-emergency medical question, call the office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. when your records are readily available. CMCS nurses and staff are specially trained to answer questions and pass information between you and your physician. We will make every attempt to return your call by the end of the day.



Laboratory, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine


Central Maine Cardiovascular Surgery routinely reports the results of all laboratory, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine services to our patients. If you do not hear from the office by phone or by mail within 14-21 days following your testing, please contact the office regarding your results.

Emergencies

For any life-threatening emergency, always call 911!

In the case of a non-life threatening emergency, patients can contact the office any time by calling 753-8260.

CMCS's answering service connects patients with the practice's on-call physician for after-hours emergencies

Prescriptions
  • Patients should ask their pharmacy to check with CMCS about a refill.
  • Patients are asked to plan ahead so they don't run out of medication.
  • Patients calling CMCS for a refill are asked to have the phone number of the pharmacy ready.
  • Routine prescriptions are filled within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Medications will not be refilled after-hours, on weekends, or on holidays.
