Central Maine Pediatric Cardiology & Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Central Maine Pediatric Cardiology provides cardiology care to children & adults requiring assistance for any of the following:

  • Congenital Heart Disease (VSD, ASD, Tetrology of Fallot, etc) for fetus, infant, children & adults
  • Acquired Heart Disease (Kawasak's Disease, Rheumatic Fever, Lyme Disease, Familial Hypercholesterolemia)
  • Exercise-induced Symptoms (chest pain, shortness of breath, tachycardia)
  • Inherited Heart Problems (things that run in families, such as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy or Long QT Syndrome)
  • Genetic Disorders causing Heart Issues (Marfan's Syndrome, Down's Syndrome, etc.)
  • Post-operative Congenital Heart Disease
  • Murmurs
  • Dizziness & Syncope (passing out)
  • Chest Pain
  • Palpitations
  • Congestive heart failure
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia or Family History of Early Heart Attacks)

  • Holter monitor application and interpretation
  • Event recorder application and interpretation
  • EKG and interpretation
  • Echocardiogram

Testing done at Central Maine Medical Center by Dr Wade Hamilton:

  • Exercise treadmill testing
  • Stress echocardiogram
  • Dobutamine stress echocardiogram
  • Tilt table testing

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment Monday through Friday, and we request that you call in advance to schedule so that we can reserve time for you. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please call and let us know as soon as possible. A 24 hour notice is appreciated.

We will make every effort to honor your appointment time, however emergency situations occasionally arise and create delays. We appreciate your patience on these occasions.

Office visit reminders

  • Bring a list of all of your medicines and doses
  • Bring your insurance cards
  • Bring your copay or deductible at the time of the visit

Telephone advice or questions

Patients can call the office with non-emergency calls between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. when your records are easily available. Nurses and staff are trained to answer questions and pass information between patients and their physician.  Please leave only non-urgent messages in our voicemail system and leave a current phone number to reach you. We make every attempt to return calls by the end of the day.

Emergencies

For any life-threatening emergency, always call 911!

In the case of a non-life threatening emergency, patients can contact the office any time by calling 753-3900.

CMHA's answering service connects patients with the practice's on-call physician for after-hours emergencies

Prescriptions
  • Patients should ask their pharmacy to check with CMP about a refill.
  • Patients are asked to plan ahead so they don't run out of medication.
  • Patients calling CMP for a refill are asked to have the phone number of the pharmacy ready.
  • Routine prescriptions are filled within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Medications will not be refilled after-hours, on weekends, or on holidays.
