The Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute's array of services mirrors the continuum of cardiovascular health issues confronted by many Maine people.
At one e
nd of the spectrum are prevention activities designed to help people adopt a "heart healthy" lifestyle. At the other end is a secondary prevention program created to assist those who have suffered a heart attack in reducing their chances of having another. Between these two prevention initiatives are a host of diagnostic and interventional services.
CMHVI's Prevention and Outreach service is designed to introduce individuals to the concept of good "heart health." But as importantly, the service also seeks to identify those who might be at risk for developing cardiovascular disease.
The diagnostic
services provided by CMHVI include both invasive and non-invasive testing. Cardiac catheterization, electrocardiography, echocardiography, stress testing, nuclear medicine scans, and electrophysiology studies are among the diagnostic tools available to CMHVI physicians.
Interventional services at CMHVI include coronary angioplasty, stent placements, coronary artery bypass, and valve repair and replacement.
CMHVI also supports an inclusive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
